A Simple Mug, A Lasting Impact

During one of our outreach events, a donated coffee mug sat wrapped in bubble wrap among our miscellaneous items. A woman spotted it immediately, hugged it to her chest, and softly said, "This is mine." She shared that she had been drinking from a plastic cup for several weeks. To many, it was just a mug. To her, it was comfort, dignity, and a small reminder of home. Moments like these remind us that even the simplest donations can make a profound difference in someone's life.

The Belt and the Shoes

During one outreach event, I noticed a gentleman struggling to keep up a pair of jeans that were simply too big for him. Without thinking twice, I took off my belt and gave it to him, spending the rest of the outreach holding up my own jeans. It was a small sacrifice, but seeing his relief made it more than worthwhile. At another outreach, we had run out of donated shoes. When someone needed a pair, I simply took off my own and gladly drove home in my socks. Moments like these remind us that serving isn't always about giving what we have to spare. Sometimes, it's about giving what we have because someone else needs it more.
